Local Weather: Near record heat thru Thursday

Clouds and some rain helps us with the heat Friday

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. —

Weather Headlines:

THROUGH THURSDAY: The heat and humidity will be increasing in a big way. Highs are expected to boost into the mid-90s by mid-week as a high pressure ridge sets up and dominates the forecast with warm tropical air. We could tie or break a record high by Thursday. Heat index values, or "feel-like" temperatures, will be in the upper 90s. Rain chances stay low.

FRIDAY: A cold front will approach and bring back some t-storms. Temperatures will likely drop from the 90s Friday to the more seasonable  80s for the weekend.

SATURDAY: The pick day of the weekend with sunshine returning in between weather systems!

SUNDAY: We'll be watching the development of a Gulf low which could bring rain Sunday into Monday. Check back in for updates on Mother's Day rain chances.
